The other day there was a post in a blog regarding certification value in market nowadays. It's difficult to measure it, but despite of those people that think that is just a matter of making several tests and just pass the exam, I think it takes valuable time to get your certification status upgraded.

So what compensation do I get as a certified professional:

  • Personal satisfaction ( it makes me feel happy, but doesn't help to pay my invoices)
  • Knowledge ( in order to pass you have to know )
  • Technical recognition (it also makes me feel happy, and sometimes it does help to get projects, that do help to pay my invoices)
  • Discounts at technical events ( it would make me happy, but at LotusSpere it doesn't work anymore)

Getting certified doesnt´t open you doors automatically, but I think it makes you very comfortable with technology you're using and you can transmit this feeling to people you are working for.

Regarding the effort of getting certification status current I've found Test 802: IBM Lotus Notes Domino 8 System Administration Update specially tough so I decided to make a cheat sheet and share it with anybody that could find it useful. It's done my way, but even so  it could be interesting for anyone to use it. Please let me know if you find any mistake in order to correct it.

Hi Claus,

As soon as possible, I would like to answer :-)

I talked recently to a company that deliver Domino training material asking for their version for release 8.5. they answered that just a few changes had been added to this release, and the materials didn't need any revision. Wow ! I think this half release is a big one and a lot of work, reading and labs are to be made to deal with it.

Best regards and nice to have you here.
