I'm suffering from strange code disappearances working with Domino Designer 8.5.1 in a virtual Windows 2003 environment with a Domino 8.5.1 test server in the same machine.

I open Designer, open a db, open a Script Library and where there should be a Editor view with my Library code, there's an empty library as if it had just been created. A bit scary !

I 'd had the same behaviour previously, and by closing Designer, stopping the nnotesmm.exe task from the Windows task manager and reopening it the problem had been solved.

This is a test environment with a lot of software running in the same box, but it's a bit annoying thinking that my library had gone away.

But today, the problem, with the same symptoms has been solved in a different way.

After the code vanishing, I've opened in Designer Help > Support > View Log to see those cryptic undocumented messages. The one that has intrigued me has been

CWPMS0015E: Managed Settings provider has experienced an error retrieving settings from the back-end system. It may be due to a network error. Make sure that the server is available, and you are connected to the networks, and have passed through necessary firewalls. Also, verify server Account information.

I had just changed the IP address, but as I was using names resolution in order to access my self contained server, and as I was able to access the server with Notes I though there was no problem.

However it seems that Eclipse Designer uses, that's my guess, connection documents to locate the server address. The old IP was in my connection document. After changing it and restarting Designer the code reappeared again.

I think some light in how Domino Designer works internally, just as some more documentation about Designer Eclipse errors could help us to diagnose our own problems in a much better way.
