Recently, we've considering Lotus Quickr for a project. Some mail was received in a mail account in Domino. This mail should be sorted and distributed.
With Lotus Notes 8.5 and Lotus Quickr Connectors you can easily drag and drop a message from the inbox to the side bar and the message is stored in a Lotus Quickr place as an EML file that can be opened with Lotus Notes, Outlook or any other EML reader.
This is an extremely easy way to share information. Notifications are handled by Lotus Quickr, you can access the files from Windows Explorer, RSS feeds are provided automatically,...
But there is a huge problem, neither EML files get indexed nor attachments included in this EML files. That's a Domino limitation that has stopped us from using this technology for our project. Something that should be solved. Maybe in Domino 8.5.3, presuming Lotus Quickr 8.5 will be supported in this new Domino release.
More information:
@Ben, the email and its attachments are converted to an EML file when you drag and drop the message from the mail database to the Lotus Quickr connectors widget in the Lotus Notes side bar. The EML contains both the body and the attachments.
Once the EML file is inside a place in Lotus Quickr, you can not search in the place, using the search box, for words that appear neither in the body nor in the attachments. The EML files are not indexed in a Domino database FTI.
Could you explain a bit further? Are you saying that a rich text (regular Notes) email gets converted to EML format, but without the attachments? As for indexing, do you mean that the attachments aren't indexed because they aren't included, or that the whole message is not indexed?
It is possible that our Midas Rich Text LSX could help with the EML generation, both for including attachments and giving greater control over the fidelity. On the other hand, this should work out of the box.
