Well... a new Domino book on the bookshelf...at last

Nowadays, finding a Domino book in a bookshop is not the easiest thing ( and I'm not talking about a spanish one ). I dare to say, it's a difficult one. And what 's worst, when you find one, is so obsolete that you'd rather not have found it.
I wonder why there are almost neither Domino nor Notes books on the bookshops. The answer could be easy to find, no one is going to buy them !
We could say we've got Redbooks, the best resource that you can find. But, when I train people in Domino technology, I always ask them if they know redbooks, and surprisingly ( or not ), many of them don't.
What I want to tell is that publishing books, although they are not sold in huge volumes, it's a good way to advertise the product. It's just about presence. Indeed I think is a enormous shop window for many new potential customers. But, who should make the publishing effort ? Maybe Lotus should be the sponsor.
And what could also be interesting is finding attractive books and not so deeply technical as redbooks. Lotus Evangelist wrote about certification paths diagrams, comparing them to MS ones. It would be nice to find modern and colorful designs also in books.

Es triste no poder encontrar ni un solo libro "reciente" de Domino. Con un enfoque diferente a los redbooks, con una maquetación y una portada atractivos. Es publicidad en las librerías técnicas ... y en Internet.
Hola Miguel Angel. Como no, suscribo completamente tu entrada. En la Universidad de la UPC (Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña), recuerdo que hace bastantes años los profesores publicaban en la copisteria apuntes que los alumnos debíamos adquirir para seguir las clases. Debido a que algunos incluso estaban hechos "a mano" la Universidad cambió las normas y obligó a los profesores a puclicar libros bajo el paraguas de su editorial. De esta manera se alcanzaban unos "mínimos" en calidad. Y todos salíamos ganando. La publicación de libros era otro método de evalucación de los profesores, además de las encuestas que se instauraron en las aulas. Otra batalla es que hay que que cambiar la mentalidad tan rígida que tiene IBM. Y, claro, la competencia, se aprovecha. Por ejemplo, ¿por qué no podemos poner copias para descarga en el servidor del ESLUG de los redbooks sobre la temática que consideremos más interesante? Pues no. No podemos. Sólo hay que leerse la letra de copyright en la segunda página....
